Our
        Home

Misión de María is a non-profit organization that receives children between the ages of 0 and 3. They have been placed in our care under an order of the Juvenile Courts because they were either in a social risk situation (i.e. abused; drug addict or alcoholic parents; prostitutes, etc.) or found completely abandoned. Each child is brought to the orphanage by institutions such as SENAME (National Children Service), Casa Nacional del Niño (National Children House) and others.

Mision de María was formed by a group of volunteers with the determination to offer all their love and support to children’s needs, so that they had a pleasant, hospitable and brief staying at our home, in the hope of diminishing their pain of abandonment.

Our objective is focused on assisting and helping children´s families to resolve those problems that forced children to be taken away from them. We are convinced that they will be better with their biological parents. However, in many cases adoption has been the answer where abandonment is an irreversible process.

Our social worker strives to obtain a family life for each child. She either returns the child to his/her biological family (after having verified that the problems that caused the separation have been resolved) or prepares the child for adoption. The adoption process is set up judicially and help is sought from SENAME to find the best family for the child. In such a way, we try to rapidly find a solution to children’s situations so that the effects of abandonment are perceived as little as possible by them.
